Socratic Dialogues
Socratic Dialogues
Are you familiar with this experience? You’re talking with a friend, you hear yourself saying certain things, and suddenly you think, “Wow, I didn’t know I knew that!”
This is precisely the principle of Socratic dialogue: through dialogue, through words, through the questions I ask you, but also through the attentive and deep listening I offer, your own knowledge can emerge. The questions that arise from this listening allow us to reveal what is already present within you.
It’s a simple principle, based on deep listening. Unlike a conversation between friends, here, you are at the center. Your question is central. It’s about you, and what we seek to illuminate together. We explore what would often remain more difficult to perceive if you were alone with your thoughts.
In this space of silent listening, questions arise naturally, opening a path to your own knowledge and inner wisdom. You then realize that you know far more than you thought. This knowledge emerges in the very moment of the dialogue.
My sessions are not limited to this dialogue: they often begin with it, in order to guide the energy work that follows. This work takes place in silence. Afterward, a short exchange usually resumes, no longer as an exploration, but as a sharing of experience that allows us to synthesize the session.
Socratic dialogues are traditionally described as dialogues that “midwife the soul.” What is born in the space created by this type of dialogue is the wisdom of your soul itself…
